Modern English Runes
This is a modern runic alphabet for writing Modern English. It is named Younger Futhorc since it is based on Futhorc, which wrote Old English and Old Frisian. One of the main goals when creating this system was to not deviate from runic precedent needlessly like so many other modern runic alphabets do.

- Not everyone speaks English the same way, so tweak the rules to suit your speech.
- For aesthetic reasons, I recommend not using ᛟ for /ə/ in unstressed syllables; for a word like "about" I recommend ᚪᛒᚫᚢᛏ not ᛟᛒᚫᚢᛏ.
- If your dialect has /ɒ/, consider using ᚩᚢ for /ow~əw/ so that you can use ᚩ for /ɒ/.
- If you need a way of writing /ɔ/, consider ᚪᚢ.
- If you want to keep /ɪ/ and /i/ apart, consider using ᛁᚷ or ᛠ for /i/.
- For non-rhotic kinds of English, ᚱ can indicate vowel length (ᛣᚪᚱ can be /kɑː/).
- I recommend not allowing ᛉ to cross morpheme boundaries; for "sax" and "sacks" I recommend ᛋᚫᛉ and ᛋᚫᛣᛋ. This recommendation is based on how Old English scribes generally used the Latin letter ⟨x⟩.
- ᚷ can be /j/ before ᛁ, ᛖ, ᚫ. To represent /j/ before ᚢ, ᚩ, ᛟ, ᚪ one can use ᚷᛁ (Franks Casket style) or ᛡ (Shropham Lead Plaque style).
- I use ᛖ as a kind of question mark, since it can stand for "eh?".
